CLEANING

 

Cleaning a wood or wood-look floor is easy. Use a broom, dry mop or the dusting attachment on a vacuum for picking up sand and dust. It’s important to remove sand as soon as possible to prevent abrasive action.

 

For small spills, plain water on a rag is all that is necessary . For total floor cleaning, use either plain water, water with a small amount of vinegar, or water with a drop of hand dishwashing soap added such as Dawn, Joy, etc. The floor can be mopped or hand-washed, but either way, do not leave water sitting on the floor. Do NOT use wax or any product containing wax, oil, Teflon, or silicon. If any of these have been used, another coat of finish can’t be applied and the floor will have to sanded and refinished.
 

LONG TERM MAINTENANCE

 

We advise using protectors on your furniture, especially chairs, furniture which gets moved often, and heavier items. We recommend the heavy duty felt circles and strips, available at most hardware stores or home stores. If there is any damage to the floor, please contact your landlord for repair options.
